I am a Garrwa woman, and I was privileged to spend my formative years growing up on country. Immersed in culture, I carry vivid memories of falling asleep to songs in our language, carried on the humid night air from the hills surrounding our small town. Those early experiences continue to shape how I understand culture, connection and responsibility.

Throughout my career, I have worked across the Aboriginal Community Controlled sector, humanitarian aid internationally, and community services and youth work in some of Australia’s most disadvantaged communities. Across these diverse settings, one thread has remained constant: a deep commitment to community, cultural integrity and meaningful change.

My passion lies in sharing the stories of my people and our cultures, and in addressing the disconnect that often exists between mainstream Australia and ancient Aboriginal cultural values. I believe that for First Nations peoples to truly be self-determining, we must engage in honest truth-telling — within our own communities and beyond — and create spaces for learning that are culturally safe, respectful and grounded in lived experience.
